Sometimes the things that are left behind contain great beauty. This is a photograph taken of a goat’s skull, which I have adjusted to suit a Dark Fairytale theme. I took 11 photos in all to get a complete 360 of this subject.

No one knows what happened to her. All we found was her tiara, tangled in the trees. This is a photograph taken of an old tiara which was entangled in the branches of a tree, which I have adjusted to suit a dark fairytale theme.

We wove our way through the trees until eventually, we found our way home. This is a photograph taken in the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, which has been adjusted to suit a dark fairytale theme.

I look above me, but the sky is obscured by a fine network of branches, clawing at the sky. This is a shot of what I think is a willow tree, taken in the Botanic Gardens in winter. The complex shapes of the bare branches are rather beautiful against the cold winter sky. This image has been adjusted in photoshop to suit a dark fairytale theme.

Lengths of bamboo held together with thick, rough rope line the edges of the path. This is a photograph taken in the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, and has been adjusted in photoshop to suit a dark fairytale theme.

The complex patterns in the window panes of the palm house glitter enticingly. This is a photograph taken in the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, which has been adjusted to suit a dark fairytale theme.

The pathway winds where I am not allowed to go. Photograph of a large building, taken in Edinburgh Botanic Gardens. Slight blue boost in post production.

This is a photograph of the end of festival fireworks in Edinburgh, taken with the castle in the background.

This is a still from my stop frame animation Shattered . This shot had to be taken in .jpg format to allow me to animate (working with raw format images would have been a nightmare). I have processed this in Photoshop to give a different look from the one I chose for the animation.

I was attracted to the flowing lines and soft sensuous glow of this lamp. A frosted glass, sculptural style lamp in an art deco (at a guess!) style. This is one one of the Edinburgh Museums.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A photograph of some graffiti I found under a bridge. I think it looks a little bit like a panda – don’t you?

The small post offices are the best places to hear all the local news. An in built post box outside the village post office in Beauly. Black & white photo taken on ilford stock film and hand processed. This has been adjusted and restored in Photoshop, where I have selectively added red to the postbox to colour it.
